Come and celebrate with us! This year, ORANGE 94.0 is once again throwing a summer birthday party – because Vienna’s Free Radio is turning 28! Since 1998, ORANGE 94.0 has stood for open media spaces and radio for people to get involved, experiment and build connections.

This year, however, we are celebrating in a particularly challenging situation: Following the massive cuts to the City of Vienna’s funding, the future of ORANGE 94.0 remains uncertain. The past few months have been marked by change, reorganisation and farewells, but also by a great deal of solidarity and togetherness. That is precisely why we want to come together and celebrate what we have built together: a Free Radio that lives through its community.

We’re celebrating with a lively solidarity street festival at Gaußplatz. From 2pm, join us at Gaußplatz 9–10, 1200 Vienna, for games, fun, a cake buffet, solidarity merch and a flea market focusing on books, records and children’s items. Rundpunkt (formerly Aktionsradios Augarten) will also be opening its doors and offering a wonderful selection of arts and crafts. Gaußplatz at the corner of Klosterneuburgerstraße will become a feel-good spot with lots of great community DIY activities.

The evening programme starts at 6pm with a panel discussion. We celebrate diversity of opinion and civic engagement. From 7.30pm, the live acts beauchamp*geissler, Papara Takes Her Tools Out, and DJ ayotheartist will get us dancing and swaying along. The concerts will also be broadcast live on the radio.

Especially in these difficult times, our community is more important than ever. We don’t just want to celebrate, but also to make visible what ORANGE 94.0 has stood for over the past 28 years: free media, social diversity, empowerment and creating together.

Come along, celebrate with us and support your Free Community Radio! Together, we can help ensure that ORANGE 94.0 remains an open media space for everyone in the future.
